Richard was incredibly friendly and professional. I was expecting something similar to syringing but this felt far more thorough. Richard used several pieces of equipment on my ears and explained everything that he was doing in simple terms so I could understand.it was brilliant being in the comfort of my own home and having the option to be seen at the weekend too. I’ve already recommended Clear to everyone I know! Thank you.

Safety is our priority and we pride ourselves in making the procedure as pain free and comfortable as possible. Experienced Senior Audiologists Specialists in Hard & Impacted Earwax No Need for Extensive Oil Pre-Treatment Safe and pain free
It is perfectly natural for earwax to form in the ear canal. It serves to protect the eardrum form small particles that enter the ear and may cause damage. The wax and trapped articles are slowly moved along the ear canal where they wither fall out or are wiped away. If this natural mechanism is interfered with this can lead to a problematic build-up of ear wax that may block the ear canal causing increased hearing loss. Signs of a blockage in the ear canal include: o Impaired hearing o Ear pain (otalgia) o Tinnitus o Irritation o Ear infections o Vertigo
Ear wax build up can cause increased hearing loss, pain and irritation. You should never try to remove ear wax yourself as the ears are extremely sensitive and you could make your situation worse. Impacted ear wax causes greater hearing loss, discomfort, and is harder to remove. Depending on the condition of your ear canal an individually tailored method of ear wax removal will be used: o Microsuction: micro-instruments are used to apply gentle suction to the wax safely removing it out of the ear. This process typically takes 10-20 minutes. o Ear irrigation: using specialised equipment the ear is gently flushed with a flow of warm water. This process usually takes 15-20 minutes. o Mechanical removal: a medical implement is used to hook or clasp the wax gently removing it from the ear canal.
COVID-19. All consultation and earwax removal procedures will be conducted in line with government recommend COVID-19 precautions. A COVID-19 screening questionnaire will be completed prior to our visit and all appointments will be performed in full PPE.

EXAMPLE OF CONSULTATION FORM Name: …………………………………………………………………………………………… Address: ……………………………………………………………………………………….. Telephone: ……………………………………………………………………………......... Age / DOB: ……………………………………………………………………………………. CONSENT FORM FOR EAR WAX REMOVAL The Audiologist/Registered Hearing Aid Dispenser has discussed with you the need to remove wax from your ear canal(s). In order to do this it is necessary to carry out otoscopy (visual inspection of the outer Ear and Ear Drum) and remove wax from your ear using the safest and most appropriate method for the location and amount of wax discovered. Three methods of wax removal may be used during this course: 1) Removal of wax deposits using various instruments There are instruments with various tips designed for gentle removal of wax close to the ear canal entrance. In this procedure, the instruments are carefully inserted into the ear canal to clear the debris or wax. 2) Wax removal using microsuction Microsuction is a system which effectively uses a vacuum to clear out any debris or wax from the ear canal. There is currently only one CE-marked equipment to use; however, it is common practice to use off-label devices: The CE marked suction unit is to remove fluids from the airway or respiratory support system and infectious materials from wounds and has been adapted for aural micro suction. In the procedure of microsuction, a fine suction tube is gently inserted into the ear canal while being viewed closely through a microscope or magnifying Loupe headsets. 3) Wax removal using water irrigation Water is an effective method to remove debris or wax in cases of a healthy canal and in-tact eardrum. The ProPulse water irrigator unit is CE-marked and has been designed specifically for wax removal. With this unit, we aim low pressure, pulses of water to flush out the ear canal. The water is body temperature (37˚C). The Audiologist has undertaken training in debris and wax removal and will use best-practice procedures to minimise any risk of harm. However, as with any wax removal procedure, even when performed with the upmost care, there is a small risk of damage to or infection of the skin of the ear canal or the eardrum. Furthermore, the procedures of microsuction and water irrigation can be noisy and may cause a shift in your hearing thresholds (generally temporary) or start/aggravate any existing tinnitus. There is also the risk of temporary dizziness or discomfort. In certain instances, olive oil may be used during the procedure, unless there is a known sensitivity. Finally, where it is not possible to remove the wax, you may be advised to use further treatment with olive oil or sodium bicarbonate solution. You can withdraw your consent at any time. Please communicate any concerns or discomforts to your audiologist. NAME: …………………………………………………………………………………………… Please tick in order to give your consent: I give my consent to allow the Audiologist to perform remove wax from my ear using the most appropriate method for the location and amount of wax discovered. I have read the information above and understand there is a small risk involved. I am aware the procedure can be terminated at any time. SIGNED: : ………………………………………………………………………………… DATE: …………………
